American Dad shouldn’t be as good as it is. It started out pretty middling, following the Seth MacFarlane playbook of traditional sitcom structure but with zany things talking that shouldn’t be, all usually addressing some political topic. But somewhere around season two, American Dad ditched a lot of that pretense and went straight for the amazingly absurd gusto and has never looked back. One of the highlights of the show is whenever Steve (voiced by Scott Grimes) busts out his singing chops, which all tend to skew towards the R&B and pop flavors.
