The world got a bit dimmer yesterday as it was announced that Sir Patrick Stewart died. Sir Patrick wasn’t just a pillar of modern nerdery with his work in the Star Trek and X-Men franchises, amongst many others, but he was also a caring, strong, boldly loving man who commanded the screen and stage with his immense talent. He could be the steadfast leader, the menacing villain like in GREEN ROOM, the sniveling bureaucrat in LIFEFORCE and CONSPIRACY THEORY, the powerhouse soldier in EXCALIBUR and DUNE (1984), and so much more.
He was also quite funny.
Whether its his work with Seth Macfarlane in Family Guy, American Dad, and the TED movies, or his guest spots on various talk shows or popping up in Extras, and more. Sir Patrick’s natural gravitas meant he could land a joke unlike few others. And he got in on the joke recently with Just For Laughs as he instructed the Canadian audience exactly what he wanted for his eulogy.
