“Knight Rider” Theme on 8 Cellos
The COVID-19 was a real “best of times/worst of times” situation in so many ways. Of course, there was the horrific death toll and beginning of long-COVID miseries that still plague people today. Many businesses shuttered and many jobs were lost to never return. There was the panic and fear and depression that came from the lockdown and the complete failure of those in power to truly meet the moment.
But in all of that misery, there were genuine beacons of light. I’m not saying that a woman figuring out how to play the Knight Rider theme in eight parts is a fair trade off for such tragedies. I’m saying that amidst all of the suffering, humanity still found a way to persevere, create community, entertain, inspire, and more. Despite everything falling apart, the human spirit pushed onwards in plucky defiance.
Samara Ginsberg, a London-based artist, rose to some prominence during the awful plague years thanks to her inventiveness and musical talent as she figured out how to play multiple parts of famous pop cultural theme songs by herself and edit the works together into a video that was delightful.
