LES BÊTES (2025)
The Annecy Animation Film Festival recently concluded, and out of it came this amazing short by California animator Michael Granberry. LES BÊTES is a terrific fantasy short that creates a whole world and tells a complete story in under 12 minutes. The chiaroscuro lighting recalls German Expressionism and Jean Cocteau equally, while the macabre action feels akin to Edward Gorey or others who delight in such grisly irony.
Truly an entertaining stop-motion short that’s worthy of your time and won the Vimeo award at Annecy as well. Check it out!
