Matt Baume, “What Makes X-Men So Gay?”

Matt Baume is constantly putting out great material about the intersection of media, Queer culture, and history. His latest video looks at the origins of Marvel’s X-Men comics and how they eventually became cinematic juggernauts. By focusing on the comic books and the first two movies in the franchise, Baume highlights the Queer allegories that Stan Lee, Jack Kirby, Chris Claremont, David Hayter, and other artists brought to the table in their depiction of mutants striving for acceptance in a society that fears and hates them.
