MY CAT LUCY (2022)

Are cats really the devil incarnate? Wouldn’t it make sense that Satan would masquerade his true evil intentions behind a fluffy facade of cuteness? That seems to be the thinking process of the protagonist of Kate Vaillant’s short, MY CAT LUCY. Made as her senior project for Ringling College of Art and Design Class of 2022, Vaillant’s animated film has a lot of Gravity Falls in its DNA (I’m pretty sure the attic bedroom is very close to the Pines’), not just in aesthetic but also a fun combination of comedy, adventure, action, and the spookier side of things. It’s a lot of fun and definitely an impressive work.

MY CAT LUCY is a short film about a boy who is convinced his beloved black cat is being possessed by a demon. It is being released on Halloween 2022!
