Pete Holmes’ “Ex-Men” (featuring Zach Cregger)
I miss The Pete Holmes Show. From 2013-2014, the affable comedian had his own late night chat show that followed Conan O’Brien on TBS (O’Brien produced Holmes’ show, too). Holmes wasn’t just funny in his monologues and gifted with his interviews, he also did a lot of fun sketches on the show too. One of the recurring bits was “Ex-Men” where Professor X (Holmes) would fire some member of the X-Men while roasting all of the ways they are…at least conceptually awkward. Some of the best of these involve now beloved horror filmmaker Zach Cregger still wearing his acting attire. In the first, Cregger appears as Iceman for whom Charles Xavier has no time for (despite being an Omega-level mutant!!!):
And then another sketch finds Cregger back, this time as Cyclops, who mostly Xavier wishes to be rid of for safety reasons:
