POSSIBILIA (2014)

This week we’re highlighting short works from filmmakers that had movies at SXSW 2022.

EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE was my most anticipated film of SXSW 2022 (and maybe 2022 as a whole) due to its multiversal story of infinite possibilities, a fantastic cast led by Michelle Yeoh, and directed by The Daniels, a filmmaking team that I have loved and annoyingly proselytized for years. So, of course, that was the movie I missed despite waiting for 90 minutes due to an inane bag policy that was never adequately explained to anyone that evening. BUT! I will be attending a press screening soon and the film will be opening in limited release this Friday and expanding to different cities each week.

But there is a laundry list of works by the duo—music videos (…stay tuned for more on that…), short films, ads and more; not to mention the projects they’ve done individually like THE DEATH OF DICK LONG or various TV episodes. One of those films is 2014’s POSSIBILIA, which is an interactive experience that uses a couple’s break-up as a way of exploring the various possibilities and paths each choice creates. The plot summary is as follows:

POSSIBILIA is an interactive love story set in the multiverse. A young couple contemplating breaking up while the audience witnesses the events from any of 16 different perspectives.

Enjoy POSSIBILIA, and catch EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE when it hits select theaters on March 25, April 1, and further expansion. Be sure to follow The Daniels on Twitter.
