“So May We Start” Music Video

Leos Carax’s 2021 film ANNETTE is mildly polarizing as some found it absolutely brilliant storytelling while others saw it as tedious wankery. The truth, as usual, lies somewhere in the middle. But one undeniable facet of the film is the opening song. Provided by Sparks, who did the music for the movie and the Mael Brothers are the sole credited writers on the film, “So May We Start” is a raucous way to kick off any story…or even any day.

Sparks is joined by members of ANNETTE’s cast Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard and features Simon Helberg. Why Helberg only gets a featured credit and the others don’t seems odd, but I’m guessing it’s meant as a meta joke about his role in the movie itself. Or something. Who can say with Sparks? Those li’l stinkers love them some comedy. Anyways, it’s a dope song with a great video (directed by Carax). Enjoy!
