SZA, “Kill Bill”

Music videos seem to be actually thriving in the current Internet era. Not only are we getting more than ever, possibly due to being free from the corporate-dictated monoculture of MTV, but there are great ones coming out seemingly every week. Case in point is the video for SZA’s latest single, “Kill Bill.” Working with the incredibly talented artist, director Christian Breslauer has created a fun yet moody experience with plenty of excellent nods to the Tarantino films of the same name (including a cameo by a star from that duology). It’s not the most innovative music video around, but it has enough great moments and emotional beats to stay in the minds of viewers for a long time and the ending image is a surprisingly arresting mix of sadness and eroticism.

You can hear “Kill Bill” and more great songs on SZA’s latest album, SOS.
