The Untold Story of Adult Swim’s Influence on Rap

Lyrical Lemonade TV has put together a great look at how [adult swim] uniquely positioned itself in such a way as to have a major influence on hip hop even from its beginnings in the early Aughts.

The video shows the ways in which key figures at Cartoon Network’s weird late night shingle ended up causing massive ripples in the rap world. From using J. Dilla beats in the bumpers, to producing The Boondocks TV show, to working with Danger Mouse and MF DOOM, to helping form (!!) Run The Jewels, to giving Odd Future its own show, and much more. There are a lot of ways that this late night group of weirdos would have massive influence across decades of hip hop.
