Tim Burton’s BATMAN 3

History is littered with projects that never came to be. Alternate timelines where artists collaborated and created a version of their vision that audiences will never see. One such point of divergence is what if Tim Burton had directed the third BATMAN movie in the series he began in 1989? In our world, the 1995 film was helmed by Joel Schumacher and called BATMAN FOREVER with Val Kilmer as Batman, Jim Carrey as The Riddler, and Tommy Lee Jones as Two-Face.

But in this other timestream, Burton made BATMAN CONTINUES with Michael Keaton reprising his starring role, along with a returning Michelle Pfeiffer, and possibly Robin Williams as The Riddler. By piecing together interviews and discussions and all manner of nerdery, YouTuber Bullets & Blockbusters breaks down this movie-that-could-have-been, first providing plenty of context and history of the franchise before delving into the plot and possible casting, along with the behind the scenes studio shenanigans that forever altered the course of history as we know it. Of course, if that means it would have been a world without “Kiss From A Rose,” then you can just keep it.
