Tituss Burgess Performs “Time After Time”

Yes, this is seven years old. But it turns out? Still as amazing. I genuinely think this is up there as one of the best covers in pop music history—alongside such works like Jimi Hendrix’s “All Along The Watchtower” and Johnny Cash’s version of “Hurt.”

For Billboard’s 2018 Women in Music event, Tituss Burgess covered “Time After Time” (originally by Cyndi Lauper, who is in attendance and is shown multiple times during the performance). It’s a transcendent reimagining of the work that is equal parts stripped down yet also bombastic through the power of Burgess’ incredible voice.
