WITCHMOTH, “Love Sores”

A dope synthwave track paired with a bizarre and grotesque music video? Yes, please! “Love Sores” by WITCHMOTH is a delightfully dark tune that comes with an equally awesome video depicting all manner of disgusting degradations.

As the video summary states:

If you long for the lost era of late-night animated splatter skum so gloriously repulsive that your eyeballs would rather tear themselves free from your skull and scurry off into the darkness than endure another second of the unspeakable sights they have seen, then this is the video for you!

"Love Sores" by my synthwavy musical side project WITCHMOTH (spelled with all caps for A E S T H E T I C S) is a track I originally made way back in 2015 and never really knew what to do with. Earlier this year, I randomly decided to make an animated music video for it, and somehow it turned into my favorite piece of animation I've made so far!

I decided to dig through a bunch of other unreleased music I've made over the years and put together an album of synthwave-ish electronic tracks.

Since we live in age of uncertainty and I'm sure I'll get a bunch of "what did you make this with?" type-questions, here's a quick breakdown of my process:

  • Character Modeling & Design: iClone, ZBrush, Substance Painter

  • Motion Capture: Self-captured using a Perception Neuron Studio suit

  • Special FX, Non-Character Modeling & Goo Simulations: Cinema 4D + X-Particles

  • Staging, Cinematography, Lighting, Rendering, Etc: Unreal Engine 5.7

  • Editing & Post-Production FX: Adobe Creative Suite

  • Color Grading: DaVinci Resolve
