Each week, Neon Splatter contributors offer up some viewing options found on streaming (U.S. unless otherwise noted). Movies, TV shows, specials, and more. New and old, from all sorts of genres and nations. Most importantly, we deem them worthy of your time.

Khayla McGowan: LARA CROFT: TOMB RAIDER (2001)

What It Is: The orphaned heiress and intrepid archaeologist, Lara Croft, embarks on a dangerous quest to retrieve the two halves of an ancient artefact which controls time before it falls into the wrong hands. As an extremely rare planetary alignment is about to occur for the first time in 5,000 years, the fearless tomb raider will have to team up with rival adventurers and sworn enemies to collect the pieces, while time is running out. But, in the end, who can harness the archaic talisman's unlimited power?

Where It Is: HBO Max

Why You Should Watch It: “Action movie Angelina Jolie is my favorite Angelina Jolie. As a giant fan of the Tomb Raider video game franchise, the original movies have always held up for me due to how over-the-top they were. If you haven't seen this one, please watch it...and if you haven't seen it in a while, please revisit it!”

Kiley Fox: Alfred Hitchcock Presents (1955 - 1962)

What It Is: Sir Alfred Hitchcock, the Master of Suspense hosts his own television show. Hitchcock introduced the show, which was then followed by a short half an hour episode which contained suspense, horror, and humor. After the story, Hitchcock would come back and end the show.

Where It Is: Tubi

Why You Should Watch It: “As a kid, I didn't know he was a big time director. To my 8-year-old brain, he was the really dry guy who did that cool stepping into outline move, then gave us melancholy stories. It was wild to me I could watch a show on Nick-At-Nite that purposely made you feel bad.”

Jeremy Lowe: STRAIGHT EDGE KEGGER (2019)

What It Is: A young punk and a houseful of drunks square off against the gang of militant straight edgers that he's abandoned.

Where It Is: Tubi and Shudder

Why You Should Watch It: “I've been in the punk rock scene since I was a kid and I can honestly say STRAIGHT EDGE KEGGER is the most authentic representation of the D.I.Y. punk scene in any punxploitation film ever. It's also a brutal siege and survivalist horror film. This is a must watch for fans of GREEN ROOM (2015) and ROMPER STOMPER (1992). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!”

Rob Dean:  THE CHOCOLATE WAR (1988)

What It Is: New boy at strict Catholic High School, Jerry Renault, is bullied into selling boxes of chocolates for the school's annual fund-raising event. The sadistic headmaster, Brother Leon, and 'The Vigils', a viscious gang of school thugs, make Jerry's life hell when he decides he won't be pushed around anymore.

Where It Is: Amazon Prime

Why You Should Watch It: “Based on the excellent YA novel by Robert Cormier, this was Keith Gordon’s directorial debut (moving from acting in DRESSED TO KILL and CHRISTINE, etc.). It’s a terrific portrayal of murky morality that everyone encounters as they grow up, with an individual taking on a fixed system…but to what end? Greatly boosted by a fantastic ‘80s soundtrack including Kate Bush and Yaz.”
