Each week, Neon Splatter contributors offer up some viewing options found on streaming (U.S. unless otherwise noted). Movies, TV shows, specials, and more. New and old, from all sorts of genres and nations. Most importantly, we deem them worthy of your time.

Kiley Fox: COOTIES (2014)

What It Is: A mysterious virus hits an isolated elementary school, transforming the kids into a feral swarm of mass savages. An unlikely hero must lead a motley band of teachers in the fight of their lives.

Where It Is: Tubi

Why You Should Watch It: “A solid horror comedy that put a new spin on the zombie trope. The characters are fun, the comedy is absurd, and the movie is a little bit gross. Elijah Wood is a treasure. That opening credits scene turned me off chicken for years.”

Shafi Malik: BAAHUBALI: THE BEGINNING (2015)

What It Is: When Sanga and her husband, part of a tribe living around the province of Mahismathi, save a drowning infant, little do they know the background of the infant or what the future holds for him. The kid grows up to as Shivudu, a free-spirit wanting to explore the mountains and in the process learns of his roots and then realizes the whole purpose of his life and ends up confronting the mighty Bhallala Deva!

Where It Is: Netflix

Why You Should Watch It: “Excited about RRR releasing this week? Catch S.S. Rajamouli’s previous Telugu epic action adventure. Filled with so much heart and jaw-dropping action scenes, it really is an attack on the senses! I guarantee you will be swept up in its power.”

Khayla McGowan: Longmire (2012-2017)

What It Is: Walt Longmire is the dedicated and unflappable sheriff of Absaroka County, Wyoming. Widowed only a year, he is a man in psychic repair but buries his pain behind his brave face, unassuming grin and dry wit.

Where It Is: Netflix

Why You Should Watch It: “This Western set in the modern day hit all the right notes throughout its six seasons. From relationship drama to tricky cases and having a strong cultural theme between Indigenous Americans and those living right outside the reservation, the show's complex themes kept me on the edge of my seat with each episode. Any show that Katee Sackhoff is involved with is a big win, but this one is perhaps my favorite in her illustrious television career! Please give a view if you love Yellowstone, Bosch, Deadwood, or if a crime show with a Western backdrop tickles your fancy!”

Rob Dean:  THE CITY OF LOST CHILDREN (1995)

What It Is: On a mist-shrouded rig in the sea, Krank ages prematurely because he lacks one vital function: the ability to dream. And so he kidnaps children from the harbor town, to steal their happy dreams from them. But a child he takes is also the little brother of carnival strongman One, who sets out to rescue him with the help of his precocious young, orphaned friend Miette.

Where It Is: Amazon Prime

Why You Should Watch It: “This bit of steampunk fantasy feels like the midway point between Terry Gilliam and Guillermo del Toro (complete with a Ron Perlman performance). Jeunet & Caro crafted a gorgeous film with fascinating characters, intriguing mythologies, and a truly unique dreamlike experience.”

Jeremy Lowe: THE VELOCIPASTOR (2018)

What It Is: After losing his parents, a priest travels to China, where he inherits a mysterious ability that allows him to turn into a dinosaur. At first horrified by this new power, a hooker convinces him to use it to fight crime. And ninjas.

Where It Is: Amazon, Tubi

Why You Should Watch It: “THE VELOCIPASTOR is quite possibly the most ridiculous film I've ever seen—and that's saying a lot. Who would have thought a man of the cloth turning into a dinosaur and ripping people to shreds could be so much fun? Lots of laughs and gore, THE VELOCIPASTOR is a good time for sure!
