YOU ARE THE FILM (2026)

The trailer for 2026’s YOU ARE THE FILM (aka 君は映画). Written and directed by Makoto Ueda. The film stars Marika Ito, Kai Inowaki, Riko Fujitani, Oshiro Maeda, and Hinako Kikuchi.

The plot summary is as follows:

Inside a small Shimokitazawa cinema, an impossible chain of events begins when the lives of playwright Madoka and musician Kazuma start appearing on screen in real time. As trouble erupts in the neighbouring venues Good Heavens and Mikazuki Rock, the two try to use this bizarre phenomenon to set things right, only to find that their parallel “stories” begin affecting one another in unpredictable ways, sending events spiralling in directions neither can control.

As of this writing, YOU ARE THE FILM will premiere on April 5, 2026 at the 44th Brussels International Film Festival and then hit Japanese theaters on June 19, 2026. It has been picked up for international distribution by Third Window Films.
