Red Letter Media on WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER
It’s hard to discuss great comedies—especially great comedic films with excellent dialogue—without devolving into just quoting it or summarizing all the hilarious bits. Yet Red Letter Media (Jay Bauman and Mike Stoklasa), joined by Jack Quaid, manage to avoid those pitfalls when talking about WET HOT AMERICAN SUMMER. Mostly.
The amazing 2001 comedy from David Wain and Michael Showalter deserves to constantly be highlighted and discussed as it is truly one of the funniest movies of the 21st century. It manages to be part homage, part parody, part sketch comedy, and all around absurdist delight. If you’ve not seen it, watch it. Then come back and watch these three guys dissect what they love about this tremendous film.
