Writer/director Sean Baker (ANORA, THE FLORIDA PROJECT) has released his latest film, SANDIWARA, after premiering at Berlin International Film Festival. The short stars Michelle Yeoh in multiple roles all converging together after one day around food, friends, and more in Penang.

The plot summary from YouTube is:

Set in a Malaysian night market, follows five characters who each tell their own unique story and represent a facet of Malaysian culture rarely explored.

It’s definitely a slight entry in Baker’s filmography (and Yeoh’s too), but it’s a very charming short that has some impressive technical accomplishments and manages to still have an emotional impact.
