Welcome to Dollywood
As the world continues to reel from the many losses and tragedies this week, there continues to be a profound hole in our universe where Dolly Parton once stood. An iconic figure for over 50 years, Parton was an inspiration to many across all walks of life and seemingly one of the few universally beloved people left on this planet.
One of the more interesting elements of her life was Dollywood, her amusement park she created in Tennessee and opened in 1986. It featured lots of callbacks to her Appalachian upbringing as well as rides and musical performances. Here’s a few minutes from a 1996 promotional video for the park as presented by the good folks at the Found Footage Festival.
Goodbye, Dolly - we will always love you.
