Each week, Neon Splatter contributors offer up some viewing options found on streaming (U.S. unless otherwise noted). Movies, TV shows, specials, and more. New and old, from all sorts of genres and nations. Most importantly, we deem them worthy of your time.

Shafi Malik: MONICA, O MY DARLING (2022)

What It Is: A young engineer who specializes in robotics gets a well paying job and has an affair with female colleague. Some happy moments follow but soon his world goes topsy turvy as he finds himself getting blackmailed and is unwittingly involved in a series of murders. How long will this state of affairs continue and will he come out unscathed?

Where It Is: Netflix

Why You Should Watch It: “This one is a big surprise for me as I hadn't seen that many Hindi attempts at the Neo-Noir genre and this is all-in-all successful. Great performances all around but particularly from Rajkummar Rao and Huma Quareshi. It has the right amount of sex appeal and murder to make an entertaining weekend movie viewing!”

Khayla McGowan: Behind Her Eyes (2021)

What It Is: Louise is a divorced mother who works as a secretary and one night meets and falls in love with a man who happens to be David, her new boss in the office. Fate brings Louise to meet his wife and learn things that she must research to find what is hidden behind their relationship.

Where It Is: Netflix

Why You Should Watch It: “I've been into psychological thrillers lately and I'd forgotten this one came out. Not only did this one meet the quality of the book, but I'd argue it exceeded it behind amazing performances from Eve Hewson and Simona Brown. Give this underrated gem a view and propel Eve Hewson to being know as more than rock legend Bono's daughter - she's talented!”

Kiley Fox: Burn Notice (2007-2013)

What It Is: Michael Westen, a seasoned U.S. spy, is suddenly "burned", i.e. discredited, without any form of procedure. He survives by doing impossible jobs for desperate people in Miami, where his mother lives. Michael is usually aided by his ex-girlfriend Fiona and trusted former FBI informer Sam.

Where It Is: FreeVee, Hulu

Why You Should Watch It: “Well aware of its camp, but still endearing, exciting, and addictive, this show will always put me in a good mood except when in makes me cry (in a good way.) Our family still always says, ‘When you're a spy...’ when we do anything remotely sneaky.”

Rob Dean:  GAMER (2009)

What It Is: In a future mind-controlling game, death row convicts are forced to battle in a Doom-type environment. Convict Kable, controlled by Simon, a skilled teenage gamer, must survive thirty sessions in order to be set free.

Where It Is: Peacock

Why You Should Watch It: “The team behind the CRANK films, Neveldine/Taylor, crafted this oddly prescient film that foresaw a lot of trends in gaming and tech. Plus you get some great action, awkward attempts at shocking humor, Terry Crews and Zoë Bell, and a charming dance number turned melee. It’s easy to dismiss and insult, but it’s much better and creepily more accurate than most acknowledge.”
