Each week, Neon Splatter contributors offer up some viewing options found on streaming (U.S. unless otherwise noted). Movies, TV shows, specials, and more. New and old, from all sorts of genres and nations. Most importantly, we deem them worthy of your time.

Kiley Fox: Feeling Asian (podcast)

What It Is: Welcome to Feeling Asian! A podcast where two Asians talk about their feelings. After a lifetime of holding in their emotions (shoutout to Korean moms!), comedians Youngmi Mayer and Brian Park are ready to let them all out. Each week, Youngmi and Brian dive into topics that range from sex/dating to umm...not sex/dating, and invite their interesting friends along the way. Who know catharsis could be so Asian?

Where It Is: YouTube

Why You Should Watch It: “The final episodes of the podcast Feeling Asian, which you can also watch on YouTube, dropped yesterday. After three years of listening, it helped me not feel like a crazy person. This show let me feel seen and heard and pointed out many cultural reasons for things I thought were flaws. It helped me celebrate being Asian American. Cathy Park Hong is the final guest, and boy, did that episode make me sob. If you want to have some insight into your Asian American friends and their cultural struggles, while being raunchy and laughing, you can stream this.”

Alexis M. Collazo: Ozark (2017 - 2022)

What It Is: The Byrdes and their teenage kids Charlotte and Jonah look like, and mostly are, an ordinary family with ordinary lives. Except that husband/father Marty, a Chicago financial advisor, also serves as the top money-launderer for Mexico's second-largest drug cartel. When things go awry, he must uproot his family from the skyscrapers of Chicago and relocate to the lazy lake region of the Missouri Ozarks.

Where It Is: Netflix

Why You Should Watch It: “I held off getting into Ozark, despite—or in spite of—its surrounding hype. It was well deserved, but I am glad I was able to skip the anticipation between seasons. The Byrd family's penchant for digging themselves in deeper shit was endlessly entertaining and waiting to see how they scheme themselves out of it made it hard not to binge.”

Khayla McGowan: Warrior Nun (2020 -

)

What It Is: After waking up in a morgue, an orphaned teen discovers she now possesses superpowers as the chosen Halo Bearer for a secret sect of demon-hunting nuns.

Where It Is: Netflix

Why You Should Watch It: “Badass warriors—who happen to be nuns—fighting demons and science while the audience sometimes doesn't know who to root for because everything seems morally gray? Sign me up. The show had slow legs at first and didn't know what it wanted to be, but when it allows itself to become a biblical epic worthy of the Book of Revelations, it meshes the horror, action, and drama genres perfectly.”

Jeremy Lowe: SHE WAS SO PRETTY: BE GOOD FOR GOODNESS SAKE (2017)

What It Is: Alfie (Jerry Larew Jr) spends his time walking the streets in search of the woman of his dreams.

Where It Is: Tubi

Why You Should Watch It: “Vile, repugnant, and disturbing are only a few words that come to mind when describing this movie. This is my favorite Christmas-themed, female-directed, no budget slasher film. It goes super hard, but it still has heart. You would never guess this is only director Brooklyn Ewing's second feature film or that it was made for only $1,000, but between the set design, cinematography, and soundtrack, this movie really stands out. Highly Recommended!”
